LITTLE DRAGON
TRADITIONAL TAEKWONDO
PROGRAM

Oh Ryung Hon Taekwondo

Taekwondo is a martial art of Korean origin. “Taekwondo” is a Korean term which “tae” means foot, “kwon” means hand and “do” means the way. The way of the hand and foot. It is an ancient art that is used for physical exercise, self defense, sport application, and career advancement in film and movie production.

Traditional Taekwondo emphasizes the complete development of the student in Mind and Body. Oh Ryung Hon style of Taekwondo incorporates a mix of different styles of martial arts within the basic Taekwondo system.

Our Little Dragons’ Program is developed specifically for preschool age children ages 4-6. The classes are designed with the following goals in mind:

    Development of basic motor skills

Create a foundation of fitness and fun! Taekwondo provides exercises as it tones and develops the body and muscles including the heart. Its movements also increase flexibility which aides in injury prevention.

Develop Life Success Skills including the ability to focus, goal setting, understanding of application and reward concepts, and other building blocks needed to set patterns for success in future aspirations.

Teaching of character qualities such as courtesy, respect, self-control, integrity, confidence, self-esteem, perseverance, dedication, and honor for oneself and others.

Self defense and safety awareness skills.

The classes are 30 minutes long and include interactive games and activities designed to teach techniques and concepts of Traditional Taekwondo. Positive reinforcement is used to guide students towards their program goals. Our unique Little Dragon Belt program, award stripes, and star chart rewards are all tools we use to reward our students for setting and reaching their Individual goals (please see the Little Dragons award and patch system below for more detailed description of belt program and awards program).
